Nelson Mandela, Rest In Peace

I pulled up my Google this morning to do a search, and there’s a tribute to Nelson Mandela, he passed away at the age of 95.

Nelson Mandela as I know him was a man who fought for human rights and for freedom. He eventually became the prime minister of South Africa, after fighting his whole life for an end to the racist apartheid regime.

I know him through the movie “Invictus”, which has a very inspiring poem that’s said to be one of Nelson’s favourites, I blogged it here – “Spirit, Unconquered – Invictus”. Here’s William Ernest Henley’s poem again :

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody…
